Questions Asked

Is there an age limit or health restrictions?

No – you can purchase a plan at any age and in any state of health, but please see the note on instalments below.

Can I pay by instalments?

Yes, there are a range of options – please ask for details. It usually costs more to pay for a plan by instalments because of the extra administration involved, and if you die before completing all of the instalments the funeral will only be part–paid.

What if I die away from home?

We recommend that you take out travel insurance when you go on holiday, especially, if you travel abroad, which usually covers bringing you hack home if necessary. Or we can quote for the extra cost involved.

What if I move home?

If you move, Ecclesiastical Planning Services can transfer your plan to a Funeral Director in that area. Funeral Costs do vary, from one area to another and you will be advised of any difference in cost at that stage.

Can I buy a plan for someone else?

Yes, please mention this on your application – we will need the name, address and year of birth of the person to be covered but we will send all correspondence to you.

What if the cost of funerals increases?

The cost of a funeral usually increases each year, but once you have purchased a prepayment plan the funeral specified will be provided for you when it is needed. A funeral plan through us guarantees that our funeral director’s costs (as set out in the plan paperwork) are covered as long as we carry out the funeral and your requirements don’t change. You can also choose to make a contribution towards third party costs which are outside our control, such as fees for cremation or burial, medical fees and payment to minister or officiant etc. This is one of the most important benefits and why, it is has become so popular with our clients in recent years.

What if I change my mind later?

In the event that a plan is to be cancelled, you must return the original Certificate of Entitlement together with written cancellation instructions to the administration team at Ecclesiastical Funeral Services. A letter confirming cancellation of the plan plus a cheque for a full refund of the original amount paid (minus the management fee) will be returned to you by Ecclesiastical Funeral Services.

How do I know the money will be safe?

All payments are made directly into Ecclesiastical Planning Services and are held in guaranteed whole of life assurance polices.  The plans we offer give you exceptional financial security for your money. Unlike some plans, every penny of the full value of the plan (excluding the initial management fee) is held securely in a whole of life assurance policy and ring–fenced to pay for your funeral when the time comes. The money is made immediately available at the time of need and the funds cannot be used for anything other than your funeral for total peace of mind.

The funeral plan funds are held in guaranteed whole of life assurance policies with a life assurance company who is authorised by the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA) and the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). Funeral plans themselves are not regulated by the PRA or FCA but are regulated by the Funeral Planning Authority.

“Purchasing a plan gives me peace of mind, knowing that all the arrangements are made and paid for. Now I can get on with my life.”
